Steven qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1988 and as a Chartered Internal Auditor in 2010 and has worked at Director of Finance and Chief Executive level in Health and Social Care in N. Ireland. He is Principal at McHughLindsay.

He has considerable experience at partner level in private practice. From 2006 – 2017, Steven was a partner with mid -tier accountancy practice, establishing and leading the firm’s Consultancy and Internal Audit division. Steven was Managing Partner of the firm from 2010- 2017. Steven then established and led the Governance, Risk and Consulting team within another accounting practice until 2025.

Steven has a keen interest in leadership development and is an accredited associate executive coach with the Academy of Executive Coaching. He has provided coaching services to clients operating at Chief Executive, Director, and Manager level in the Public, Private and Community and Voluntary Sectors. He is an Associate with the HSC Leadership Centre and has developed and delivered modules on the Boardroom Apprentice programme since its inception in 2017.

He was a Trustee of Age NI from 2007 – 2017 and was a Trustee and Treasurer with Verbal Arts from 2015- 2024. Steven is currently, Vice President of Londonderry Chamber of Commerce, a Board member with Inner City Trust Capital Projects, a Governor with Foyle College and a member of the Ulster University Magee Taskforce established by the Minister for the Economy.

Catriona McHugh

Catriona is a qualified Chartered Certified Accountant and an affiliate member of the Institute of Internal Audit (IIA) UK & Ireland. She has more than 30 years of experience in finance and consulting, 25 of which have been in financial reform and governance. She has worked in Northern Ireland, Ireland and internationally. Her international development consulting experience includes work in Kosovo, the Philippines, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Hungary.

She has provided internal audit and consultancy services for local, central government, arm’s length bodies and for the voluntary and community sector. She has experience in project planning, implementation and management and has been in involved in assessing and evaluating the delivery of EU donor funded projects to identify successes and lessons learned.

Catriona has many years of expertise in strategic and business planning and supporting organisations with governance and risk management review and improvements.

She is an experienced trainer and has developed and delivered governance and risk management training for boards and senior management teams.

Catriona has been a commissioner (non-executive Board member) at Foyle Port for over 5 years and is also a Director in Music Kin, a Community Interest Company.
